Midway's Gauntlet Legends
for the Sega Dreamcast seems to be getting prettier by the minute. The
game, which features medieval
characters (Warrior, Archer, Valkyrie, Wizard) as they slice and dice their
way through a series of
wonderful worlds inhabited by more than 50 gruesome ghouls.
Characters gain experience
and toughness by destroying enemies and the generators that spawn them.
A
hero can progress in four
categories, and improvement up to 99 levels is possible. Each player-controlled
hero will have his own unique
hand-to-hand attack, as well as an unlimited amount of projectile weaponry.
Various goals and sub-goals
(among them finding and recovering rune stones, defeating bosses, defending
towers, etc.) promise varied
gameplay and the multiplayer action should make Legends one for the record
books -- at least as far
as party games go |
